Last weekend I cut the grass.
Then it rained All Week.
This weekend's plan? Cut the grass.
On the plus side, we have wee baby grass coming up where a few weeks ago I raked and sowed the Kerb'o'Weeds! (Is it disturbing if one coos at grass sprouts and baby-talks to them? I'm just so pleased they exist!)
What's your plan?

Date: 2011-05-20 08:56 pm (UTC)It has not rained (yet) today. There might be hope for the long weekend after all. Grass wasn't as horrid as it could have been since it's been cold, but I expect a few days of sun and it'll need cutting again.
We want to get some vegetables for container gardening and find a screen door. Our old screen door was a $35 temporary fix that lasted five years, but we had a new door put in last fall, so a new screen door is in order.
Having someone else in to do work was very weird at first, but as soon as he took out the old door, the truth was revealed, and I was glad it wasn't my problem to fix.
I'd told him the old door wouldn't be properly installed on actual framing memebers and he--well, he didn't say anything, because he obviously can't speak to women about things like that. He answered all my questions and comments by speaking to The Man! Anyway, he clearly didn't believe me. Since I'd warned him, he couldn't really charge extra for all the extra time it took to fit new framing for the door. I should post a picture of the old iron...thing, I have no idea what it was, that formed the support for the sill. I should post all the photos of "stuff found in the walls" one of these days.

Date: 2011-05-21 04:08 pm (UTC)Yay! Go you!
I know this feeling very very well.
Oh, I hate that a lot. (I do have a tad of sympathy for contractors who have learned that even talking directly to The Wife/The Girlfriend causes problems with The Husband/The Boyfriend. I was called in to be "The Woman on the Crew" on a couple occasions just to enable necessary communication. But I think most of the time it's plain sexism.)

Date: 2011-05-21 04:11 pm (UTC)Yay! (Have you considered using a scythe? They're a bit hard to find, but I like that they are quiet and mine was easier on my arms than a relatively heavy weed whacker.)
Adds one more thing to my todo list
